HOME-STAY 2019 |
BASIC INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS INTERESTED IN OUR BI-ANNUAL HOME-STAY
1.This is NOT an SCUSD sponsored field trip. The trip is organized by Bryan Fisher and Kelly Martinez. Therefore we reserve the right to only allow students to attend that we would feel would be able to behave on a trip of this magnitude. However, we try to include as many as possible. 2.We require that only Seniors and Junior who have completed Japanese 3 and 4 with excellent grades and citizenship go. These students will have to most maturity and skills in Japanese to make the home stay worth wild. 3.The trip itself includes a 13-14 day excursion going to Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima and Matsuyama. We leave after school ends in mid to late June. We travel the first week of the trip together with our companion school Rosemont High School to see the sights and sounds of Japan. We stay in hotels and travel as a group to see major tourist spots. 4.After travelling thru Japan we arrive in Matsuyama for a week and stay with host families and attend a Japanese high school for several days. At Nitta Seiun, students get hands on experience interacting with families and using their Japanese skills. This is the most engaging and memorable part of the trip. Students make relationships they keep for a lifetime. 5.We try to keep costs as low as possible. For the flight, transportation from different cities, and hotels (which does include some meals). We shoot for a total price for the trip to be between $3000-$3500 per student. Every year is different so costs often change. The way we keep the price lower is by staying with the host families in Matsuyama for a week. |
