I am Fisher Sensei and I was born and raised in Sacramento, California. I graduated from CSUS with a BA and a teaching credential in Social Science. I then lived in Japan for several years where I worked as an English Teacher. I meet my wife and then moved back to America to resume teaching history at CK McClatchy High School. In 2007, I began teaching Japanese. This will be my 14 year as a Japanese teacher. In addition, I have passed the California Subject Examinations for Teachers in Japanese and I have taken and passed the N5, N4, and N3 level Japanese proficiency exams administered by the Japanese Government.
Japanese is not the easiest language to learn, but I believe it is one of the most fun to learn. I learned Japanese by self study and making friends in Japan. As a non-native speaker I understand all the pitfalls and problems that learners of Japanese face. However, so many things about Japanese culture make learning Japanese fun. I enjoy all aspects of Japanese culture from Samurai to Manga.
Learning a language is a journey of ups and downs. Some days you will feel like you truly understand it all and then some days you will feel totally lost. That is all part of learning another language.
Join me and the rest of your classmates on a journey of knowledge, self discovery and goofy Japanese filled adventures.
